Ukraine is interested in expanding presence of Azerbaijan road companies in Ukraine – Volodymyr Omelyan

 “Ukraine is interested in expanding presence of Azerbaijan road companies in Ukraine,” Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, stated during the meeting with Shahin Mustafayev Abdulla oglu, the Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan Republic which took place in Kyiv on March 14, 2017. Slawomir Nowak, Acting CEO of State Agency of Ukraine Roads “Ukravtodor”,  Raivis Veckagans, Acting CEO of State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” (USPA), Merek Zalesny, member of the Board of PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" also attended the event.

The sides discussed actual issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly in rail, road and port sectors. The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine is interested in expanding presence of Azerbaijan road companies in Ukraine: "We have examples of the successful work of Azerbaijan road companies in Ukraine, and I am convinced that this year companies from Azerbaijan can participate in the implementation of projects, funded by international financial organizations, and in future – in the implementation of projects, funded from them budget."

The Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine thanked to the Azerbaijan side for a constructive dialogue on the development of transit and stressed that the development of transit through Ukraine to Europe and Asia is priority: "In this direction, Azerbaijan is a key chain and we have to establish our work so, that the route was convenient, reliable and competitive.”

Volodymyr Omelyan also invited Azerbaijan side to participate in the development of port infrastructure in Ukraine.
