The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine denies information on expansion of Pegasus Airlines presence in Ukraine

8 June 2017, 08:59

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine denies information that yesterday appeared in a number of media allegedly citing Viktor Dovhan, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure on European Integration,  about the expansion of Pegasus Airlines presence in Ukraine.

It should be noted that no relevant news has been published on the official website of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. One of the Ministry’s main functions is to provide an opportunity of cheap flights for Ukrainian citizens, primarily to Europe. This can only be achieved through competition, which will be in place upon the entry of new players. Indeed, the Ministry has held negotiations with a number of low-cost carriers. However, it would be incorrect to disclose the format of cooperation or any other details until the negotiations are over. During the meetings, representatives of foreign airlines together with the senior officers of the Ministry have discussed different formats of airlines’ operations in Ukraine, including the establishment of subsidiary companies in Ukraine. However, the format of such airlines’ operations is still under discussion.

Currently, there is no reason to talk about the expansion of Pegasus Airlines presence in Ukraine
