Ukrzaliznytsya has to pay a special attention to persons with disabilities

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan, together with the company management of PC «Ukrzaliznytsya», representatives of various NGOs and activists conducted a meeting on service improvements for Ukrzaliznytsya passengers with disabilities. One of the pivotal issues discussed was the possibility of online purchase of rail tickets. The Minister of Infrastructure stressed that both the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and Ukrzaliznytsya stand for the interests of passengers: "In order to avoid speculation while buying online tickets, Ukrzaliznytsia needs a single register of persons with disabilities to be created. The Ministry of Infrastructure will strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy in order to make the service more accessible to all passengers in the upcoming months".

Moreover, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine also discussed the issue of improving the passenger service in general: "We will continue our trilateral cooperation (the Ministry of  Infrastructure of Ukraine-Ukrzaliznytsya-the public) in order to improve the quality of service and ensure convenient network. It is extremely important for us to study all the suggestions made by the activists. We have already had a positive experience of such work in 2016 and I believe that it is useful for both parties, because Ukrzaliznytsia needs to react to comments and offers of passengers: the trains should be clean, the routes should be convenient, logistics must be present from the point the view of the client, and not from the point of view of Ukrzaliznytsia.

"We want to work in this trilateral format in such a way that takes into account real capabilities of the railway in order to be able to give the best option for passengers so that they feel comfortable and safe", - added the Minister of Infrastructure.

Recently, Volodymyr Omelyan has received complaints about the service of one of Ukrzaliznytsia's units through social networks regarding ticket sales to the destination Tarasivka-Kyiv. This and other complaints were considered during the meeting. The Minister emphasized the significance of urgent reaction to the appeal of passengers.
