The agreement between PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" and "General Electric" is the achievement we have set ourselves on since 2016, - Volodymyr Omelyan
On February 23, 2018, in the presence of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" and General Electric signed an agreement that envisages modernization of the locomotives and supply of new locomotives. U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, President and CEO of General Electric Transportation Rafael Santana were attended the event.
Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine noted: "This is an important event not only for Ukrzaliznytsia, but also for the whole Ukraine. We have been following this victory since 2016. The agreement is signed. It is a billion dollars of investments in Ukraine, creation of more than a thousand new jobs. These are new technologies, modern locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia, a huge step for the company. Thus, within a short period, we will be able to completely update diesel locomotives and give stability and quality, ensure the export of products. This is a huge step forward. "
"We do not just buy foreign technics - we localize it production in Ukraine. The first batch of 30 locomotives provides localization of production at the level of 10%, further localization should grow up to 40%. This is creation of new jobs and investment in the economy of Ukraine", - the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine added.
