On May 23, 2018, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine held a meeting with the Head of the Division for Export Promotion, Development Policy, and Economic Cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hans-Joachim Henckel and with his deputy Andreas Nicolin.

The sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of transport and infrastructure, in particular, support of the German government initiatives aimed on the developing of transport infrastructure of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Omelyan noted the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraineclosely cooperates with the KfW in preparation for the implementation of projects in the areas ‘Supply of goods’
(60 million euros) and ‘Communal infrastructure’ (90 million euros).

"A number of projects have been considered and selected, which will be financed by the KfW loan. One of the projects that has been approved by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and the Ministry of Infrastructure is the construction of a breakwater and work on deepening the water area of the port of Odesa with a total value of 60 million euros. In addition, the attraction of credit funds for the renovation and repair of the national road is considered too. The priority is the Zaporizhia -Mariupol highway", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.
