May 29-30, 2018, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine for European Integration Victor Dovhan participated in the International Trade and Transport Week in Odesa
On May 29, 2018, during the conference ‘Transport and Logistics: Effective Instruments for International Trade Development’, attended by representatives of the Visegrád Four (V4) countries, participants discussed the state of the transport and logistics sector in Ukraine and the countries of the East and Central Europe, harmonization of transport policies between countries, and exchanged experiences on the development of transport corridors, intermodal transport and digitalization of transport procedures. Deputy Minister for European Integration Victor Dovhan emphasized the prospects of transportation between the countries, subject to the development of proper transport communication and noted that it is extremely important for the sustainable development of the Ukrainian economy.
On May 30, 2018, during the conference "UZ: Investor Day 2018", Victor Dovhan presented the issue of investment potential of railway transport, mechanisms for attracting investments in rolling stock and infrastructure. The Deputy Minister stressed that it is the railways that provide the largest transit and export, and in order to successfully develop the industry, it is necessary to focus on attracting long-term investments. ‘Private investment is something that the transport sector in Ukraine lacks. The main problem of narrow investments is the shortage of real, large projects, as well as the problem with their implementation. And the obstacle to attracting such funds is the lack of mechanisms for attracting investments in the public sector, and compensation of investments in strategic transport facilities’, – Victor Dovhan said. Furthermore, within the framework of the International Week, Victor Dovhan opened the International Exhibition ‘Inter-TRANSPORT 2018’ with the participation of representatives of the leading ports of the Black Sea region, railways, forwarding companies, manufacturers of equipment and machinery for port and storage facilities, leaders in the field of hydraulic engineering and others.
Transport Week Equator was the high-level meeting on the development of freight transportation in the direction of Europe–Asia, where Deputy Minister Mr. Victor Dovhan together with the head of the SE ‘USPA’ Mr. Raivis Veckagans and the head of PJSC ‘Ukrzaliznytsya’ Mr. Yevgeny Kravtsov discussed the priority infrastructure projects for the transit development. The event brought together representatives of different countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Turkey, Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iran, Romania, Hungary), of the public and private sectors, industry, international and financial organizations, representatives of associations and business, and facilitated the identification of further steps for the cooperation of countries on the development of freight transportation from Iran or China through the territory of Ukraine to European countries and in the opposite direction. contributed to the definition further steps for cooperation between countries on the development of cargo transportation from Iran or China through Ukraine to the countries of Europe and in the opposite direction.
