Volodymyr Omelyan met with Rainer Bomba
On March 7, 2019, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with Rainer Bomba, the former State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany, and representatives of the German companies "atene Kom" and "Cheil" to involve their expertise in the implementation of the pilot project "Internet of Things on Roads based on Communication Technology of the Fifth Generation 5G" and further cooperation.
The Minister noted that the development and further implementation of the pilot project is very important for the development of transport infrastructure, road safety and for the economy of Ukraine. The goal of the pilot project is to assess the effectiveness of using modern technologies to ensure road safety and monitoring of road traffic.
A huge role in the project is played the Internet of Things Technology - a global network of physical sensors and sensors that will provide information-processing centers with statistical data to control and regulate traffic flows online.
Separately, the Minister noted on the need of cooperation in electro mobility and digitalization of the transport industry.
Representatives of "Cheil" presented their solutions to management transport routes and technologies that form the digital infrastructure for the use of unmanned vehicles.
“We highly appreciate the expertise of our German colleagues and look forward to further fruitful cooperation”, - the Minister of Infrastructure said.
Volodymyr Omelyan also emphasized that the important step is the development of a high-quality national 5G network, which will be able to provide fast, smooth communication throughout the country, develop intelligent transport systems technologies, unmanned vehicles and number of other technologies that provide road safety.
