Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine held a meeting on the current situation and further steps of the implementation of concession projects in the ports of Olvia and Kherson
On May 2, 2019, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Finance Corporation on the current situation and further steps of the implementation of concession projects in the ports of Olvia and Kherson, in particular, concession competitions.
The meeting was attended by: Raivis Veckagans, head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Jason Pellmar, Chairman of the International Finance Corporation, Mark Magaletsky, head of the Infrastructure Sector of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Ukraine and others.
During the meeting, Volodymyr Omelyan noted that the Ministry of Infrastructure would continue to contribute the implementation of pilot concession projects that are already in the final stage. The Minister also stressed that the Ministry plans to complete tender documentation procedures by the end of May and in June 2019 will announce the competition.
Volodymyr Omelyan also noted that the implementation of pilot projects in Mykolaiv and Kherson will promote the attraction of private business and international investors, which combined with state guarantees, will provide a new level of management of infrastructure projects and promote the development of public-private partnership in Ukraine.
In turn, representatives of international financial organizations expressed their gratitude to the Minister for the fruitful cooperation and assistance in the implementation of pilot concession projects, and supported the draft Law “On concessions” No. 8125, which is currently in preparation for the second reading.
