Volodymyr Omelyan met with the head of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization Oleksandr Zhivotovsky

On May 3, 2019, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with Oleksandr Zhivotovsky, the head of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NCCIR ). The meeting was also attended by Farid Safarov, head of the Digital Transport Infrastructure Directorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Oleksandr Ozeran, Acting Director of the State Enterprise “The Branch Center for Digitalization and Cybersecurity”.

The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation within the framework of the pilot project of the Ministry of Infrastructure "Internet of things on roads based on fifth generation 5G communication technology" and the prospects of the development of 5G in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the head of the NCCIR expressed support for innovative projects initiated by the Ministry of Infrastructure, and noted that the Commission is ready to provide assistance in their implementation.

Volodymyr Omelyan, in turn, thanked the NCCIR  for support and noted that the implementation of the project became possible due to the fruitful cooperation of the Ministry with the NCCIR , in particular, regard to the issuing the license to the pilot project, which should show the effectiveness of using fifth-generation communication technology.

The parties also discussed prospects for implementation of 5G in Ukraine, possible resources for its realization, and further cooperation of the Ministry of Infrastructure with the NCCIR.
