Today, on May 9, 2019, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with George Kent, the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the European and Eurasian Bureau at the U.S. Department of State. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. The key attention during the discussion was focused on the challenges facing Ukraine.

The Minister of Infrastructure expressed the conviction that the foreign policy vector, aimed at the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, should be preserved, and reforms should be continued.

Volodymyr Omelyan called on the American side, together with the EU institutions, to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation because of the situation in the Azov Sea. "We see that valid today sanctions are effective. This is an effective mechanism to stop the occupation of the Azov and Black Seas", - said Volodymyr Omelyan.

Separately, the parties discussed the development of the infrastructure on the East of Ukraine, the development of the new international transport corridor Go Highway and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of cyber security.

George Kent praised the policy of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, aimed on the expanding of Ukrainian-American cooperation, and assured the Ukrainian side that the United States would continue to make every effort to help Ukraine become successful.
