Volodymyr Omelyan met with representatives of Bunge, Cargill and General Electric

During the working visit to the United States, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with representatives of American companies, in particular, Bunge, Cargill and General Electric.

During the meeting with Bunge and Cargill, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine gave a positive assessment of the work of these companies in Ukrainian ports. According to him, large foreign investors that working in Ukraine, create a new philosophy of cooperation between business and the state, higher standards of work for the workers and promote the development of not only certain sectors of the economy, but also many related sectors.

Volodymyr Omelyan informed that now the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is preparing to hold a concession competition for two major infrastructure projects: the concession project of property of the state enterprise “Olvia Stevedoring Company” (the project envisages the construction of a grain terminal with a capacity of 2 million tons. The total volume of investments will be more than 49 million dollars) and the concession project of property of the state enterprise “Kherson Commercial Sea Port” (within the framework of the project it is planned to invest in the existing port infrastructure and modernization of transshipment capacities. The total volume of investments will be not less than 8 million dollars without VAT).

"I would like to note that projects in the ports of Olvia and Kherson are implemented with the help and support of the International Finance Corporation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. We are pleased to invite Cargill and Bunge to participate in concession tenders that will be announced next month", - Volodymyr Omelyan stated.

Regarding Ukraine's cooperation with General Electric, Volodymyr Omelyan called it "exemplary" from the moment of signing of the contract and until today, when locomotives GE successfully assist in the transportation of goods by Ukrainian rail.

“The contract with General Electric is probably the most significant agreement that Ukraine has entered into over the past few years with a leading global company. The first stage of the Agreement was successfully completed - Ukrzaliznytsia received 30 locomotives that already operating. For the implementation of the Second Stage of the Agreement for 40 new locomotives it is planned to attract long-term financing from international financial institutions in the amount of $ 150 million”, - the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine noted.

Representatives of the American business thanked the Ukrainian official for an honest and open dialogue with investors, as well as for the support in the implementation of major Ukrainian-American infrastructure projects.
