Volodymyr Omelyan conducted a series of meetings with U.S. officials

As part of a working visit to the United States, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine conducted a series of meetings with American officials, in particular: with George Kent - the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the European and Eurasian Bureau at the U.S. Department of State, David Meale – Deputy Assistant Secretary for Trade Policy and Negotiations Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, Michelle Markoff - Deputy Coordinator for Cyber Issues, Larry McDonald - Deputy Assistant Secretary for Technical Assistance Policy U.S. Department of the Treasury and Thomas R. Hardy – Acting Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, together with American partners, discussed the political situation in Ukraine, in particular, in the context of preparation for parliamentary elections.

One of the central topics of discussion was the positive dynamics of the Ukrainian transport and infrastructure sectors development.

Volodymyr Omelyan said that aviation, maritime and river transportations has increased, that indicate the revival of the economy and the active use of logistical capabilities of the country. "Transport policy of Ukraine has two main priorities: integration into a single European transport space and mobilization of investment in infrastructure by improving the investment climate", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

At the same time, according to the Minister, an obstacle to the development of the maritime complex is the unlawful actions of the Russian Federation: " The Russian Federation, in violation of the basic principles of international law of the sea through its unlawful actions, connected with the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, attempts to intervene in a free and safe navigation on the Black and Azov seas, creates additional tension and destabilizes the situation in the seaports of Ukraine".

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine called on US partners to continue to support Ukraine both in the process of implementation of reforms and in counteraction to the Russian aggression.

The Minister noted that the infrastructure is out of politics and confirmed the immutability of the course on the implementation of reforms in the transport sector. The parties also discussed priority investment projects in Ukraine, in particular, on the development of ports and airports.

The American partners appreciated the activities of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine under the leadership of Volodymyr Omelyan in the context of transport reforms, openness to the foreign companies in Ukraine and expansion of their presence, as well as testing and implementation of digital technologies. In addition, the representatives of the U.S. Department of State expressed unanimous support to Volodymyr Omelyan activity and emphasized the importance of preserving the initiated reforms and processes.
