Volodymyr Omelyan met with representatives of the US Department of Homeland Security

In the framework of the working visit to the United States, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with Bryan Ware, Assistant Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security for Cyber, Infrastructure, and Resilience Policy.

Volodymyr Omelyan informed his American colleagues that the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine pays great attention to the development of cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure objects.

Cyber ​​security is a component of national security. At the government level, we have created the Industry Center for Digitalization and Cybersecurity to secure Ukraine from cyberattacks. Taking into account that the United States of America is one of the most competent states in the field of cyber security, we would be honored to establish a wide cooperation with US Department of Homeland Security", - said the Ukrainian official.

According to him, Ukraine is interested in the US experience in the development of relevant legislation, programs for the protection of critical infrastructure, creation of conditions for financing the most important infrastructure protection measures, including those implemented under the NATO programs and conduction of training programs for critical infrastructure protection specialists.

"We will be sincerely grateful if the United States and the US Department of Homeland Security will assist us in the development of cybersecurity programs in Ukraine, especially in the field of transport and postal infrastructure", -  Volodymyr Omelyan emphasized.

Officials from the US Department of Homeland Security welcomed Ukraine's initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity in the infrastructure sector and expressed their readiness to provide Ukraine with appropriate expert assistance.
