Vladyslav Kryklii, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, participated in the EU-Ukraine Association Council

Vladyslav Kryklii, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, took part in the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council today, January 28, 2020, in Brussels.  Oleksiy Honcharuk, Prime Minister of Ukraine, headed the Ukrainian Government’s delegation and chaired the sixth Association Council meeting. Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the Commission for a Stronger Europe in the World, headed a delegation of the European Union.

Vladyslav Kryklii stressed that implementation of the Association Agreement in the field of transport is an agenda of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. Building and deepening relations between Ukraine and the EU carried out on the principles of political association and economic integration, contribute to the implementation of European standards in the field of infrastructure. Ukraine and the EU are constantly expanding and strengthening transport cooperation.

The Minister of Infrastructure underlined that Ukraine is gradually integrating with the transport and logistics corridors of the European Union, becoming an important transit country in the Europe-Asia connection. It is proved by the inclusion of Ukraine in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and launching the High-level Transport Dialogue Ukraine - the EU.

Vladyslav Kryklii noted that the Ministry of Infrastructure aims to implement as soon as possible the EU directives and regulations stipulated by the Association Agreement into national transport legislation and bring them to the level of practical implementation. Therefore, the quality of transport services in Ukraine becomes the same as in the European Union. The infrastructure of the Ukrainian state should develop in harmony with the European one. This requires that the Ukrainian Parliament adopt all the necessary European integration bills, in particular on inland waterway transport, rail transport, multimodal transport, dangerous goods transportation and others.

The Head of the Ministry informed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has already adopted laws on automatic dimensional and weight control on roads, management of road safety, amendments to the Budget Code of Ukraine on sources of formation of the State Road Fund of Ukraine. Currently, the Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing European bills on postal services, the safety of wheeled vehicles, and regulating the road transport services market in Ukraine to bring them into line with the European Union act.
