Volodymyr Omelyan met with Christopher Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

During the visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine met with Christopher Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The parties discussed cooperation in the automotive, aviation and maritime industries, as well as development of digital infrastructure and attraction of investments in the transport industry of Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry informed that the aviation industry of Ukraine develop rapidly and stressed on the importance of further development of direct flights to ensure the sustainable development of Ukrainian-British cooperation in all areas: "Last year we had a record passenger traffic in all Ukrainian airports. We also see a positive dynamics of growth of passenger air transportations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. This is a clear signal that our policy is correct. "

Volodymyr Omelyan also emphasized that Ukraine is interested in attraction of foreign investors to the transport industry of Ukraine: "For today we already have successful experience of working with such world companies as Hutchison Ports, General Electric, large Chinese companies, etc. In addition, the Government of Ukraine is working on the development of legal and regulatory base for public-private partnership. We already have two pilot concession projects for ports of Olvia and Kherson. We are glad to see foreign investors in Ukraine. "

The head of the Ministry noted that Ukraine is actively working on the introducing of latest technologies on transport, in particular, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has already initiated the creation of Digitalization Center.

"We want Ukraine to become a platform for the development of technological solutions for all countries of the world. That is why we pay much attention to the digital infrastructure. Pilot project 5G launch in test format, Drone based projects, Internet of things, fast-moving transport system of the fifth generation hyperloop, traffic control system using Big Data, construction of intelligent roads for unmanned vehicle traffic Smart-roads, ecological and safe electric transport, combination of artificial intelligence, robots and reducing the influence of the human factor - all these are the most important components of the creation of a "smart" transport infrastructure of the future. We are working on their development and implementation today", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on amendments to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on international road transport of 13.12.1995.

Volodymyr Omelyan noted that the implementation of this Protocol will give Ukrainian and British carriers new opportunities in the realization of their services.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine stressed that the signing of this document is an extremely important step, as liberalization of transportation is one of the key priorities in the field of road transport.
