Ukraine International Airlines and Ukrposhta, Ukraine`s national post operator, signed the Memorandum of cooperation that aims to increase the volume of transit postal carriage operations to all international destinations. This was stated by Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, on the press conference on January 31, 2017.

"Today we signed a Memorandum of cooperation between Ukrposhta, Ukraine`s national post operator, Boryspil International Airport and Ukraine International Airlines. This is a really big step forward to recovering of cargo aviation in Ukraine. Due to the initiative of I. Smilyansky that was supported by the Boryspil International Airport and Ukraine International Airlines, we are significantly increasing the volume of transit postal carriage operations to all international destinations. We see that one cargo plane of UIA is not enough, so I hope in the business plan for subsequent years will included not only the upgrading of the passenger aircraft, but also increasing of cargo aviation”, - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

“The issue of developing the country’s major airport`s transit potential is of paramount importance to Ukraine. Transit operations include passenger, cargo, and post carriage. The latter allows leveraging additional foreign currency revenues, – noted Yuri Miroshnikov, UIA President. – We have been partnering Ukrposhta for over 12 years. A new chapter in our cooperation, the abovementioned project allows UIA to carry over 100 tons of transit post in 2017.”

“Boryspil Airport has strong transit potential that economic entities might leverage. We are glad the national postal operator that is managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is engaged in the project. Partnership with Ukrposhta and our base carrier Ukraine International with regard to developing transit postal operations is very promising as together we offer a competitive joint aviation product that is much in demand on global market,” – summarized Evgeny Dykhne, Acting CEO at Kiev Boryspil International Airport.
