The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine together with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is working on lifting additional limitations in respect of flights over Eastern Ukraine. Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, stated the above during the press conference on September 25, 2017.

“I am grateful to colleagues from the European Union who are discussing the issue with us instead of announcing their decision unilaterally. I had a conversation regarding this matter with Ms. Violeta Bulc, EU Commissioner for Mobility and Transport and Mr. Henrik Hololei, Director-General of the DG MOVE. We agreed that this week we will provide all the argument of the Ukrainian side that we consider such a bulletin to be incorrect. We expected answers from a number of Ukrainian agencies and expressed hope that once it is received it will be sent to the European side”, - said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

“At the same time, the threat is serious enough, since even if the EASA decision is non-obligatory, we understand that many companies will take it into account. We do not understand the reason for strengthening any security measures, because according to available information, the deterioration of the situation has not been observed. However, our European partners have explained that their security requirements have become more stringent, which has caused the emergence of such a draft bulletin. I do hope that the arguments provided by the Ukrainian side will be sufficient to ensure that such a document is not issued”, - Volodymyr Omelyan emphasized.
