Boryspil International Airport met the first Ryanair flight – Volodymyr Omelyan

Today, September 3, 2018, Ryanair celebrated its first flight to Ukraine. Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine and Pavlo Ryabikin, CEO of Boryspil International Airport took part in the ceremony.

Ukraine became the 37th country in which the airline Ryanair operates.

Ryanair starts its operation in Ukraine with the launch of its new four times weekly Kyiv Boryspil flight to/from Berlin Schönefeld Airport.

The flight Kyiv-Berlin commence 2 months earlier than originally scheduled due to high passenger demand. This is one of the twelve routes that the airline will carry out in the autumn-winter period 2018 from/to Kyiv.

Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine congratulated Ukraine on the commencement of Ryanair's start of flights: “I would like to congratulate all Ukrainians and Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, with the official launch of flights to Ukraine. Ryanair’s entry to Ukraine is one of the most important events for Ukraine’s airspace in the recent years. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko opens Europe for Ukrainians through a visa-free regime. We, President, the Government, the Ministry of Infrastructure, make every effort on our end to ensure that every Ukrainian may travel across Europe freely. Due to high passenger demand, the flight is operated 2 months earlier than planned. This is the best evidence that we do the right thing by uniting the Ukrainian State and international business. I wish Ryanair successful operations in Ukraine, as well as interesting and affordable travels for our citizens.”

Ryanair’s winter 2018 schedule of flights to / from Kyiv provides 12 new routes:

  • Barcelona (4 times a week)
  • Berlin Schönefeld (4 times a week)
  • Bratislava (3 times a week)
  • Bydgoszcz (2 times a week)
  • Gdansk (2 times a week)
  • Kraków (3 times a week)
  • London Stansted (5 times a week)
  • Poznan (2 times a week)
  • Stockholm Skavsta (3 times a week)
  • Vilnius (3 times a week)
  • Warsaw Modlin (4 times a week)
  • Wroclaw (3 times a week)

The airline plans to provide 38 weekly flights from / to Kyiv and carry 635 000 passengers per year.
