The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine initiates the creation of the Aviation Fund. Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine announced the above.

"Now the key issue is to convince the Government of Ukraine and the Parliament to launch the Aviation Fund in the next year. This will be targeted funding for the reconstruction of regional airports in Ukraine", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure noted that since 2015 the number of operating airports has doubled, and in 2018 there are more than 10 operating airports in Ukraine. Nevertheless, their number is not enough, and runways requires better quality.

"The key issue - will the state invest in the restoration and construction of the airports? If so, the number of airlines in Ukraine and the percentage of citizens that fly will increase. Today, 5-7% of the population is using aviation transport and our goal to increase this number at least up to 50%, and it is possible. The experience of Poland, Hungary and other neighboring Eastern European countries clearly shows that this is realistic ", - Volodymyr Omelyan stressed.
