We are satisfied with the cooperation with General Electric. Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, stated the above during a meeting with the management of General Electric. Pascal Schweitzer, the Vice President, Global Services at GE Transportation and representatives of JSC «Ukrzaliznytsya» were attended the meeting.

The sides discussed topical issues of cooperation, focusing on the contract between Ukrzaliznytsya and General Electric.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine noted that Ukrzaliznytsia had already received 22 diesel locomotives and the remaining 8 are being completed at PJSC “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works”. They will be transferred to Ukrzaliznytsia in March:  “Thus, the first stage of the contract, which provides supply of 30 diesel locomotives will be completed in full and in accordance with established deadlines. We are satisfied with the cooperation with General Electric”.

The supplied diesel locomotives are operated on the Zaporizhzhya – Komish Zorya –Volnovaha and Dolynska – Mykolaiv sections, providing transportation of goods both in the direction of the ports of the Black and Azov Seas and industrial enterprises of the eastern region of Ukraine. During the operation of General Electric locomotives, it was possible to reduce operating costs by saving fuel and energy resources and reduce the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

According to the contract, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to purchase 225 diesel locomotives produced by General Electric with a localization of production of about 40%.

Pascal Schweitzer, the Vice President, Global Services at GE Transportation, noted that the company sees prospects of development in Ukraine and emphasized the efforts of the Ministry in reforming of Ukrzaliznytsia. He also appreciated the company's cooperation with the PJSC “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works”.
