Azerbaijan expresses readiness to lift restrictions on the quantity of flights from Ukraine, – Vladyslav Kryklii

Today, April 13, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii is staying as a member of the Governmental delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the visit, Vladyslav Kryklii negotiated with the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev.

The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in various infrastructure areas, in particular, in the field of rail, air and road transportation.

Vladyslav Kryklii emphasized on the interest of the Ukrainian side in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan. “Nowadays, transport services continue to occupy one of the key positions in the development of trade and economic ties between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Therefore, the creation of comfortable conditions for bilateral and transit traffic is our main common goal in this regard. I hope for the continuation of fruitful cooperation and effective dialogue,” he said during the meeting.

During the negotiations, the ministers discussed the prospects of cooperation on the main railway routes for freight transport in the direction of Europe-Asia, as well as in the course of implementation of the initiative “Silk Road Economic Belt” in the direction of China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Ukraine-Europe using the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea ports. Besides, the parties commended the active cooperation within the international organizations TRACECA, GUAM and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (ITR).

Vladyslav Kryklii emphasized the role of Azerbaijan investors in the implementation of promising infrastructure projects in Ukraine and highlighted the importance of further development of this cooperation. “Now there is a great potential for cooperation in the implementation of promising transport and infrastructure projects, which will strengthen our trade and economic relations. We are greatly interested and we sincerely invite Azerbaijan companies to participate in large-scale projects in Ukraine. I hope that this interest will be mutual,” said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

Ministers also discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of aviation and road transport. The Azerbaijan side announced its readiness to lift restrictions on the quantity of flights and to positively consider the request of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine. At the same time, the country will be ready to lift restrictions on the quantity of air carriers by the summer of 2022.

Regarding the autoliberalization, the Azerbaijan side is ready to discuss this issue in the future. The parties have agreed to increase the current quota of permits during the next meeting of the Joint Commission in May 2021.
