The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii held an online meeting with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Trade David De Falco today, April 20. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in various infrastructure areas, including rail, sea and river transport, as well as aviation.

Vladyslav Kryklii underlined the interest of the Ukrainian side in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States in the field of transport and investment.

During the meeting, Vladyslav Kryklii and David De Falco discussed the possible cooperation in the implementation of the development of high-speed rail traffic project in Ukraine, as well as on the development of IT systems in the railway field. As for the aviation, the parties agreed on a possible expansion of the geography of flights between Ukraine and the United States after the pandemic.

Vladyslav Kryklii also shared the initial achievements and further plans of Ukraine in the implementation of important concession projects in the maritime and other industries. Taking the opportunity, the Minister invited American business representatives to participate in them. «Last year we signed the first concession agreements in the Olvia and Kherson seaports and we continue our work on the preparation of subsequent concessions in the ports of the Black Sea, Berdiansk, Odesa, Izmail, Mariupol, Skadovsk and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. Besides, railway stations in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Mykolayiv, Khmelnytsky, Chop, Lviv and Odesa are being prepared for concession. Together with the World Bank, we also prepare public-private partnership projects for 6 pilot sections of roads with a total length of 1,400 km. And we plan pilot concessions at airports», – as Vladyslav Kryklii noted.

The parties also mentioned the positive cooperation of Ukraine in the maritime sector with such American companies as «Bunge»  and «Cargill» and shared their experience in the use of smart and green technologies. In addition, Vladyslav Kryklii spoke about the agency's plans to reform the bus transportation and regulate the taxi market.

It should be mentioned that yesterday, on April 19, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii held an online meeting with representatives of the American company «Wabtec Corporation». The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of the railway sector of Ukraine.
