Our goal is the liberalization of regular air services with Canada, – Vladyslav Kryklii

Today, April 29, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii held an online meeting with the Minister of Transport of Canada Omar Alghabra. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries, in particular in the field of aviation.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Canada Andriy Shevchenko, Head of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine Oleksandr Bilchuk, Acting Director of the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise “UkSATSE” Andriy Yarmak and representatives of ministries participated in the negotiations.

Vladyslav Kryklii and Omar Alghabra discussed the possible liberalization of scheduled air services between Ukraine and Canada, as well as participation of Ukraine in the Canadian Safer Skies initiative, in which Canada cooperates with international organizations, the civil aviation industry and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to increase the safety of commercial airlines traveling in high-risk areas and to prevent future tragedies.

In turn, Vladyslav Kryklii noted the importance of continuing the work of the Safer Skies initiative and proposed to include Ukraine in the work of this forum not only as an observer, but also as a full participant.

The parties also discussed the state of cooperation between the ministries in the context of the investigation of the PS752 flight crash. Therefore, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine has already prepared and submitted its comments on the draft final report prepared by the Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the results of the accident investigation. Relevant comments were also made by the representatives of Canada. "Ukraine strive for the truth and justice in the investigation of the crash of flight PS752 and the punishment of the perpetrators. We are currently working on the proper response of the Ukrainian side to numerous violations of international law during the investigation of the PS752 disaster. We support the involvement of foreign representatives, including representatives of Canada, in the relevant process and joint preparation and submission of a complaint to the ICAO Council on the relevant actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Vladyslav Kryklii said.

In addition, the ministers agreed to intensify the work on signing a Technical Agreement between the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine and the Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA).
