Today, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov met with representatives of the French company Alstom. The focus is on the mutually beneficial localization of electric traction production, as well as the creating of new employment in Ukraine.

"The agreement with Alstom is important to us not only in the context of renewing the fleet of electric locomotives. This is an additional opportunity for further development of own production. We expect localization in Ukraine at least at the level of 35%.

Currently, we expect from Ukrzaliznytsia and our French partners a detailed plan with the definition of terms and specific steps for realization of the project," – Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

Alstom team has already held a number of meetings with Ukrainian manufacturers in preparation for the localization process.

It should be mentioned that on 1 July 2021 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Framework Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic on official support for the renewal of the fleet of electric freight locomotives of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

The agreement provides for the supply of 130 Alstom electric freight tractors. 80 of them are dual-system and another 50 are single-system.
