The airspace over Ukraine remains open, the state is working on preempting risks for airlines – statement of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine

13 February 2022, 13:15

Information about the closure of Ukraine's airspace is not true. Airspace Closure is a sovereign right of Ukraine, such a decision hasn’t been made.

Today, the Ministry of Infrastructure held a working meeting with the leadership of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services (UkSATSE), Boryspil International Airport and Ukrainian airlines on the situation in the air transportation market. As a result of the meeting, a solution was worked out to prevent further aggravation of the situation.

Most airlines continue to operate without any restrictions. Currently 29 foreign airlines operate flights from 34 countries.

Some carriers have difficulties with fluctuations in insurance markets. For its part, the state is ready to support airlines and plans to provide additional financial guarantees to support the air market. Currently our international partners are being consulted and relevant government decisions are being prepared.

"Insurance markets, as well as capital markets, are vulnerable to the information field. We expect that the situation will stabilize in the near future.

The Government, the Office of the President and our international partners are working on a common solution in this regard. If it becomes necessary, the state will ensure the return of all citizens of Ukraine from abroad", Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
