Reconstruction of Ukrainian roads after Russia's armed aggression is the focus of the Conference of European Road Directors (CEDR)

Leaders of European national road administrations gather in Budapest on May 12-13. Ukraine was represented at the event by First Deputy Head of Ukravtodor Andriy Ivko and Adviser to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandra Azarkhina.
«In two years of intensive road restoration, the volume of the Ukrainian road market has reached $9 billion. Ukravtodor has developed a base for a 10-year development of the industry. But on February 24, 2022, Russian troops broke into Ukraine and, according to our current estimates alone, damaged and destroyed 24,000 kilometers of roads and more than 300 bridges.

It will take 3-4 years to restore if there is an appropriate financial resource. In order to restore the Ukrainian infrastructure efficiently and quickly, today the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ukravtodor are developing systemic solutions in several areas,» said Andrii Ivko.

«We are initiating the creation of an international working group of heads of European road agencies, where our colleagues and partners will be able to coordinate their efforts for the strictest restoration of Ukraine's road infrastructure.
We have already received several proposals for the exchange of experience in the construction of temporary bridges, providing Ukraine with the necessary road equipment and developing projects for the restoration of destroyed facilities,» Oleksandra Azarkhina said.
The Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR) is an organization of European national road administrations that promotes improved road management. For the first time, Ukravtodor initiated a discussion of membership in CEDR in 2016. At the May 12-13 event, a decision was agreed on the membership of Ukravtodor, which will be formally approved at a meeting of the CEDR Board of Directors.
