The official position of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine regarding recent Russia's statement to withdraw from the Initiative for the safe transportation of grain and foodstuffs from Ukrainian ports

We would like to emphasize that the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative is of a humanitarian nature. This is the reason why the Ukrainian side did not close the grain corridor, even despite the Russian attacks on July 23 (the day after the signing of the Initiative), on September 23 – on the port of Odesa, as well as recent attacks on the energy infrastructure, which cut off the port infrastructure.

On the first of August, since the first ship left the Ukrainian port of Odesa to this day, we managed to export more than 9 million tons of foodstuffs, of which more than 5 million tons were sent to the countries of Africa and Asia. Under the UN World Food Program, 190,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat were exported to countries in need, that are on the verge of famine.

At the same time, we have to note that Ukraine remains a reliable partner for the civilized world and is ready to continue gathering and shipping agricultural products to ensure global food security.
