Protection of Ukrainian ports and food security are among the key topics of the international conference "United for Justice"
A high-level international conference, "United for Justice. Accountability for the Attacks against Civilian Objects" (U4J) - "United for Justice,” took place in Kyiv.
The main goal of this year's conference is to unite the efforts of the world community to bring to justice all those responsible for committing international crimes against Ukraine, in particular for massive russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.

During the "United for Justice" conference President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that as of today, there are reports of 137,000 war crimes committed by russia. In his speech, the President specifically reminded the audience of the terrorist attack in Olenivka, the mass killings of civilians in Mariupol and Bucha, and the torture of Ukrainians in Yahidne.
“There is probably no country that hasn’t heard of what the occupier has done on our land and against our people. And it must be ensured that in every country, they know the occupier will be held accountable for all of it. Because justice knows no borders. It should be equally valued everywhere – Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Australia,” the President noted.
One of the conference’s key topics was the destruction of grain terminals and port infrastructure, which caused significant economic losses and threatened global food security. Over the past two years, russia has destroyed 280 port infrastructure facilities, more than 150 vehicles, 17 civilian ships, including more than 100,000 tons of grain cargo.

"Ukraine remains one of the world's largest exporters of agricultural products, so protecting Ukrainian ports means saving millions of people from hunger. A year ago, thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Naval Forces and our international partners, Ukraine launched a sea corridor. Despite the constant shelling of the port infrastructure by the enemy, this corridor did not stop its work. During this time, the ports handled 2,523 ships and more than 68 million tons of cargo, of which 46 million tons of agricultural products were exported to more than 46 countries. This is more than was exported during the period of the Grain Initiative, which demonstrates that even during the war, Ukraine fulfills its international obligations and significantly contributes to global food security," Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, emphasized.
The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine’s key priorities remain unchanged. They aim to ensure security, restore and develop strategic infrastructure facilities.
In this regard, the main tasks of the Ministry in this direction include:
- support for the smooth operation of the Ukrainian Corridor;
- restoration and modernization of port infrastructure;
- digitization of processes in ports;
- preserving and developing the potential of the Danube port cluster;
- ensuring the stable functioning of the railway infrastructure leading to the ports.

The conference is an important step towards mobilizing international efforts to document and investigate war crimes in Ukraine and strengthen justice, legal accountability, and long-term sustainability.
