The appointment of a new director to the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine Slawomir Nowak is a fantastic chance for Ukravtodor to work on a new level, - said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan during  the presentation of the new director of Ukravtodor team on October 24, 2016.

"I believe that this is a fantastic chance and good opportunity for one of the most important agencies of Ukraine, which is given special attention from the Prime Minister, the Government and the public, to re-invent itself. I am pleased that ex-Minister of transport of Poland Slawomir Nowak has agreed to lead Ukravtodor. He is not only an outstanding politician, but also a professional, capable executive, who understands the European model which we must strive to attain. And I am sure that he will be successful”, - said Volodymyr Omelyan.

The Minister thanked the previous management of Ukravtodor and expressed hope that the new leader will introduce European standards for roads in Ukraine: "I sincerely want to thank Eugene Baraha, who in this difficult year withstood a furious pace of work, has proved every citizen of Ukraine that public funds are not a source of abuse. I am confident that the pace of road construction will be multiplied under Mr. Novaks leadership. I am sure that with Mr. Novak we will have a new standard of quality of Ukrainian roads, a new approach to system planning, quality control, and road safety. Thousands of people die every year on Ukrainian roads. We must put an end to this and build not only quality roads, but also safe roads. "

In turn, the newly appointed director of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine assured that he is ready to exert maximum efforts to radically change the state roads. But he also stressed, that improvements cannot be momentary.

"I understand that tasks and expectations that assigned to me are very large. I believe that together we can do a lot of right things and improve the state of Ukrainian roads. I need the support of the team, including and open dialogue to Ukrainian people and society , to report on changes that we're going to implement. I know it will not be easy.  One person cannot do anything. I need the support of the Minister, the Government, and the whole team of Ukravtodor. Everyone who wants to work honestly and hard, are invited to the team. I'm not a magician. The roads are not built quickly. It is necessary to reform the system, make it transparent.  The roads are in a very bad condition, and I know it. We need time," said Slawomir Nowak.
