Raivis Veckagans appointed as an a acting Chairman of the State Enterprise Ukrainian Seaports Authority (SE "USPA"), - Volodymyr Omelyan

Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, presented today January 12, 2017, in Odessa, the new acting CEO of the SE "USPA" - Raivis Veckagans.

The new Chairman has full discretion to reform the USPA and fighting against corruption, Volodymyr Omelyan stressed during the presentation. "I insist on that the USPA should to be reformed and transformed into a transparent and efficient company that works for the state and defends state interests, not the private. In this context Raivis Veckagans has complete freedom of action."

The Minister stressed that reforming the USPA is the key in the maritime industry reform. "We start the reform, and already have some resistance. This is normal. If the minister is convenient for all, it calls into question of his effectiveness. But I emphasize that the state interest and state control over state enterprises should to be above the private interests. I defend and will defend this approach", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

The Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine also attended the meeting with heads of regional state Odessa, Mykolayiv, Kherson and Zaporizhia administrations, chaired by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, in the framework of his visit to Odessa.
