On July 23, 2018, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, held an expanded meeting with the representatives of the largest Chinese companies.

The meeting were attended by the representatives of China Export-Import Bank (state bank, financing construction contracts and projects of foreign investment with the capitalization of 230 billion US dollars); China Industrial and Commercial Bank (China's largest commercial bank with the capitalization of 262 billion US dollars); China Railway Engineering Corporation (China's largest state construction company); China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd (the second largest company in China after Railway Engineering Corporation, which is engaged in the construction of railway infrastructure, tunnels, bridges, highways, airports, ports etc., capitalization - 34 billion US dollars); China Communications Construction (specializes on the construction of transport infrastructure objects, was engaged in the design, construction and equippingof 7 largest ports by freight turnover in the world, built the world’s longest bridge Hangzhou Bay (36 km long), the world's largest lock gates for the port of Antwerp, capitalization of the company is  26 billion US dollars);

The total capitalization of Chinese companies, whose representatives were at the meeting with Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, is over 600 billion US dollars.

Slawomir Nowak, head of "Ukravtodor", Yevhen Kravtsov, head of "Ukrzaliznytsia", Raivis Veckagans, head of USPA, Ihor Smilansky, head of "Ukrposhta", Olena Kryvoruchko, head of “Ukrdorinvest“, Olexandra Klitina, head of the Reform Support Office and others attended the meeting.

The sides discussed cooperation in the railway and maritime industry, construction of the roads and airports and prospects of the development of new Silk Road.

Volodymyr Omelyan noted that Chinese companies are already successfully working in Ukraine, in particular, implementing big projects in the road sector in Poltava and Zhytomyr regions:

"Chinese company - China Harbor Engineering Company, had won two tenders and successfully conducted dredging at the Yuzhny port. Funds, economized by the state are more than 500 million hryvnias. We also expect the world's largest container port operator Hutchison Ports to start its work in Ukraine. There is a good start for the work of Chinese companies in Ukraine. We hope for the joint implementation of large-scale projects that will give Ukraine a new quality, and - new successful business projects for China".
