All the construction works at the Odessa airport are planning to complete this year, - Volodymyr Omelyan

Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, during the press conference, that was held on February 5, 2019, presented plans for the development of the aviation industry of Ukraine for 2019. The event was also attended by Olexander Bilchuk - Head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Mykola Bozhko - Head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine, Pavlo Ryabikin – General Director of the State Enterprise Boryspil International Airport, Tetyana Romanovska – General Director of the Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport and Serhii Kandaurov - Director of the “Bilotserkivsky Cargo Aviation Complex”.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine noted that the development of regional airports requires investment and time: “These are infrastructure projects, the effect of which we will feel in a year and in 10 years. Between December 2017 and January 2019, UAH 922 million was allocated on Odessa Airport. In 2019 - UAH 757, 94 million. This year it is planned to complete all construction work at the Odessa airport and commissioning of the object”.

In addition, among the priority projects is "Reconstruction of the airfield "Airport Vinnytsia". One billion UAH will be allocated on the implementation of this project.  The total amount of funding for the project is UAH 2.2 billion. Among other projects are the development of infrastructure in Lviv Airport and the beginning of work on the construction of a new airport in the village of Solone, Dnipropetrovsk region.

Mykola Bozhko, head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine (Ukrinfraproekt) noted: “As part of the state program for the development and construction of regional airports, at the Odessa airport will be built a modern runway and aeronautical equipment will be installed. This will make possible airport to operate in any weather and serve all aircraft of category C, as well as partially category D. This will allow the airport to receive a passenger traffic of about 3.5 million passengers within two years after the commissioning of the airport. It will also attract cargo flows from China to Europe sent via the New Silk Road. ”

“The program also provides the reconstruction of the international airport in Vinnitsa, where modernization of technical systems will be carried out and a modern airfield complex will be created. This will increase passenger traffic and reveal the potential of freight transport. We plan that by the end of 2019 there will be the first flight from the airport of Vinnytsia ", - Mykola Bozhko said.
