Today, on March 28, 2019, Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure took part in the in the TEN-T & CEF CONFERENCE, within the framework of his visit to Bucharest.

During the speech, Volodymyr Omelyan noted that the conference is held in a vital period after signing the High Level Agreement on the extension of the TEN-T MAPS with Eastern Partnership states and after approval of the Indicative TEN-T Action Plan by the EU and the World Bank.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine highly appreciated Ukraine's joining to the projects under the Connecting Europe Facility.

He also thanked the European partners for their support in the development of the National Transport Strategy of Ukraine until 2030, “Drive Ukraine 2030” and noted that 39 Ukrainian transport infrastructure projects envisaged by “Drive Ukraine 2030” are included in the Indicative TEN-T Investment Action Plan.

“The total investment of these projects within the next decade is 4.5 billion EUR. Ukraine welcomes IFI’s, namely the EIB, to actively participate in these investments and plans to use PPP investments for these aims. Ukraine is also exploring the possibility of the use of the CEF financial instruments in joining transport infrastructure projects with neighboring EU member states”.

Volodymyr Omelyan informed the participants of the conference about the vision of the future steps of Ukraine in the context of the implementation of the TEN-T and CEF potential and future development of Rhine – Danube Core Network Corridors.

"In 2017, we opened a new rail link between Ukraine and Poland, last year we launched a new rail link between Ukraine and Hungary, which I hope will be further extended to Slovakia, Romania and a number of other EU member states. Last year, we also implemented the project “Train of Four Capitals”, which goes from the Baltic countries to Ukraine through the territory of Belarus. I hope that this year another fifth capital will join the route - Tallinn. Therefore, we will connect 5 cities in one route - Kyiv, Minsk, Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. The demand and interest in such areas is high, both from the Ukrainian side and from the EU citizens. This is a good opportunity to travel quickly, comfortable and safely. Having all the tools of TEN-T, I am sure we will give new opportunities for business, citizens of Ukraine and the EU ", - Volodymyr Omelyan said.

The Head of the Ministry also express gratitude the EU on behalf of the Government of Ukraine for its all-round support and assistance to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.
