As part of the working visit of the Ukrainian delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Dmytro Abramovych to Seoul (Republic of Korea) on March 19, 2021, a final meeting was held with representatives of the Korean Parliament responsible for transport, members of the 21st National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, honorary Cho Ying Chong and Cho Chong Xi.

The parties discussed the preparation for the implementation of a project on high-speed rail traffic in Ukraine and the improvement of the level of passenger transportation by rail.

“Implementation of projects in the field of railway transport is one of the priorities of the Government of Ukraine. This year we announced the launch of a high-speed rail project in Ukraine, which will allow us to introduce the 21st century speeds and integrate with the EU railways. And we are ready for fruitful cooperation with Korea in all areas of common interest,” Dmytro Abramovich said.

The First Deputy Minister shared the priority infrastructure projects currently planned for implementation in the transport sector. In turn, the Korean side informed about the country potential in terms of the introduction of high-speed rail traffic and reaffirmed its interest in expanding cooperation for the joint implementation of new infrastructure projects.

“Ukraine has every reason to receive financial investments from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund. And I think this issue will be resolved soon. I will closely monitor and assist in the implementation of this project,” Cho Ying Chong said.

The parties also agreed to expand the cooperation in the implementation of intelligent transport systems and the implementation of infrastructure projects on the terms of public-private partnership.

“We have a vast experience in the implementation of information technology in transport, including the implementation of high-speed Internet, in particular in trains and buses,” Cho Chong Xi said.

In summary, the parties positively noted the results achieved during the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Korea and expressed hope for the continuation of fruitful cooperation.
