The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii participated in the online conference "Ukraine in Washington" on May 13.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of infrastructure of Ukraine. "American businessmen are interested in participating in investment projects in Ukraine, and we look forward to further increase of companies," Vladyslav Kryklii said.

The Minister also mentioned that in 2019 the Concession Law was adopted in Ukraine. "We have decided that everything that can be managed by the private sector in the field of infrastructure should be transferred to the management of private enterprises, because they do it more efficiently than the state," the head of the Ministry said.

Vladyslav Kryklii also highlighted that last year two concession projects were implemented in Ukraine in the sea ports of Olvia and Kherson. The work is currently underway to launch a concession project for the management of the Chornomorsk sea trade port.

Concession projects for the passenger complex in the port of Odesa, berths of the Berdiansk seaport and the port in Izmail are also considered.

In addition to ports, concession projects are proposed for the development of railway transport. In particular, the stations in Kyiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Mykolayiv, Lviv, Odesa and Chop, which could become shopping and entertainment centers with a developed transport system.

Together with the EBRD, the Ministry of Infrastructure is completing work on the concession project for the construction and renovation of six sections of highways 1,400 km long using the budget funds and private investment, the Minister said.

Ukraine is also working with international partners on concession projects for airports in Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Kherson and Rivne. The infrastructure, including runways, will be developed by using state or local budgets. But, as the minister noted, it’s important that the terminals are operated by private companies.
